Medical Dermatology involves evaluating, diagnosing and treating conditions of the skin, hair, nails and the mouth. There are thousands of different types of skin diseases which affect persons of all age groups. Often, the skin serves as a portal to what is going on inside our bodies. A proper evaluation from a Board Certified Dermatologist who is specifically trained to detect these conditions, can often lead to earlier diagnosis of many serious internal organ medical conditions. Medical Dermatology in this sense is not then simply confined to your skin. Taking care of your skin can mean taking care of your whole health.

Aesthetic Dermatology focuses on helping improve one’s physical appearance via topical treatments and/or minimally invasive procedures.

Below are brief explanations of some of the aesthetic procedures we offer at Pandya Dermatology.

BOTOX / XEOMIN/ DYSPORT: Primarily used to treat wrinkles caused from facial muscle usage such as the “11s” between the brows and the horizontal lines on the forehead. This procedure has many other applications.

FILLERS: Includes products such as Radiesse, Belotero, as well as Restylane and Juvederm families. These are “gels” used to address hollow areas such as around cheekbones, temples or jawline. Fillers are also often used to enhance lip size and shape.

CHEMICAL PEELS: Medical grade chemicals, which are stronger than over-the-counter ones, are applied to treatment areas to help reduce acne and sun spots, improve skin tone and texture, as well as treat fine lines and acne scars.

MICRONEEDLING: Has wide application and is safe in all skin types. It entails tiny needles being used to prick the skin of the target area. This stimulates your skin to produce collagen and elastin, which helps improve the texture, tone and tightness of the skin. This procedure can be used to treat acne scars, large pores, skin discoloration and many other concerns.

PRP: Stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. PRP treatment is an in-office treatment which is used for hair loss, skin rejuvenation and treatment of acne scars. The process involves your own plasma (component of your blood) being harnessed and then either injected under the skin or applied on top of the skin, often in combination with microneedling.
